The government of Nepal Lumbini Pradesh has decided to grant a public holiday across the province districts on the coming Thursday. The Government/ Pradesh Government public holiday update notice. According to the notice published in the Nepal Province Gazette dated 2082.12.22, the occassion of Pradesh Established Tamang Language as government language for office purpose. This notification has been published for the information of all concerned as it has been decided to declare a public holiday on Baisakh 24, 2081 .

Bagmati Province Announces Public Holidays for 2083 BS

The Bagmati Province government has officially released its schedule of public holidays for the upcoming Nepali calendar year 2083 BS (starting mid-April 2026). These holidays are in addition to the national holidays announced by the Federal Government of Nepal.

Province-Wide Holiday

There is one specific day where all government offices and public institutions across the entire Bagmati Province will be closed:

Public holiday on the 2083 Baisakh 24– Bhasa Diwas

  • Language Day (Official Government Working Language Day): Baisakh 24, 2083 (Thursday).

Specific Ethnic & Cultural Holidays

To honor the diverse heritage of the province, specific holidays have been granted for certain communities and districts:

  • Gai Jatra: Bhadra 13 (Saturday).
  • Nwagi (Chonam) Festival: Bhadra 22 (Monday). This holiday is specifically for the Chepang community and applies to the entirety of Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Dhading districts.
  • Ladi Festival: Falgun 18 (Tuesday). Observed on the third Tuesday of Falgun, this holiday is dedicated to the Majhi community across the entire Bagmati Province.

This notification has been published for the information of all concerned as the decision was taken by the Provincial Government (Cabinet).
