The Nepal Rastra Bank has informed through a notification that carrying, carrying and dealing in Indian rupee notes with denominations greater than 100 is prohibited in Nepal.

Rastra Bank has said that when coming to Nepal from India or going from Nepal to India, you can bring/carry currency equivalent to five thousand US dollars (notes of 100 or less only) and have to declare more than that amount at customs.

Indian Rupees INR Currency Allowed to Nepal: Only Rs 100 INR Notes
For Visiting Purpose: INR 25000 is allowed to carry
For Medical Treatment Purposes: INR 50000 is allowed to be obtained from banks & financial institutions.

It is mentioned in the notice that cash benefits up to 25,000 rupees for visiting India and 50,000 cash rupees for medical treatment can be obtained from banks and financial institutions. It is said that the Nepali citizens visiting India can avail this facility up to 25 thousand rupees from the money changer.

According to the National Bank, this limit does not apply to other means of transactions such as draft, TT, hospital payment through card etc.
