On Tuesday, nine agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between Nepal and China in Beijing. The agreements were signed during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit, who arrived in Beijing last Monday.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Krishna Prasad Dhakal provided details about the signing from Beijing. “Nine agreements and memorandums of understanding have been signed between Nepal and China today,” he stated.
The signed documents include:
- Agreement on the Tokha-Chhahare Tunnel Route
- Memorandum on Nepal-China Trade Promotion
- Exchange of Certificates for the Completion of Nine-Story Basantapur Palace Reconstruction
- Protocol on Processed Buffalo Meat Export
- Memorandum on Development Projects
- Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation
- Exchange of Cash Assistance Letters
- Agreement on Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers
- Memorandum on Communication Technology between Nepal Television and China Media Group
During the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Oli and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang, discussions focused on various areas of cooperation, including:

- Science and technology
- Sports
- Disaster management
- People-to-people exchanges

“The bilateral talks have contributed to taking the Nepal-China relationship to new heights,” Dhakal mentioned.
The agreements were signed following a high-level bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Oli and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, with respective officials from both countries finalizing the documents.
These agreements signify a deepening of diplomatic and economic ties between Nepal and China, highlighting the countries’ commitment to mutual cooperation and development.
