The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for formulating and implementing Nepal’s foreign policy. Strengthening Nepal’s bilateral, regional and multilateral relations, projecting and promoting Nepal’s image in international arena, promoting Nepal’s development diplomacy, protecting the rights and interests of Nepalis living abroad are the key tasks of the Ministry. It also provides passport and consular services and handles protocol matters.

In fulfilling its responsibilities, the Ministry coordinates with all relevant government agencies, Nepali missions abroad as well as diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Nepal. It also consults private sector and non-governmental organisations on policy as well as implementation related matters within its jurisdiction.

Currently, there are 40 Nepali diplomatic missions abroad – 30 Embassies, 3 Permanent Missions and 7 Consulates General.

Candidates for promotion based on seniority and performance evaluation and promotion based on performance evaluation should pay attention when applying:

(a) They must not be ineligible for promotion according to Section 22 of the Civil Service Act 2049.
(b) While filling the application form, the reference number obtained from the civil library must be mentioned compulsorily. In the case of educational qualifications for which equivalence has to be determined, a certified copy of the equivalence determination must be submitted compulsorily.
(d) The details as mentioned in all sections of the application form should be clearly disclosed.
According to the Employee Adjustment Act, 2075, employees who have been adjusted at the union, state and local levels can be potential candidates for promotion to a position one rank or level above the service group subgroup that was in place before the adjustment in accordance with subsection 4 of section 14 of the same act. Potential candidates for promotion by seniority and performance appraisal under section 24D1 of the Civil Service Act, 2049 (Amendment)
should also be one month or more in matters related to the relevant service, group or sub-group in a post one grade below the post to be promoted.

Must be 21 years old and not less than 45 years old. There is no age limit in case of existing permanent civil service.
After submitting the application through online mode, pay the double fee to the DC within the office hours next day after the last date for submitting the application.
If the day falls on a public holiday, then the first day after which the office opens. Double the prescribed examination fee will have to be paid compulsorily.

Candidates have to upload all necessary documents including educational qualification, training, experience in the designated place of online application system.
The candidate shall be fully responsible for the details mentioned in the application.

Minimum Qualification Required:
In accordance with sub-section 14 a of section 7 of the Civil Service Act, 2049, who has completed 5 years of permanent service in a gazetted third-class post, and who has completed the prescribed service period and qualification for the post in the posts to be appointed through the gazetted second-class internal competitive examination, Civil Service Act 2049, All employees working in the service as per Federal Parliament Secretariat Act, 2064 and Nepal Health Service Act, 2053 will be potential candidates. But in the case of women, tribal tribes, Madhesi, Dalits, disabled and civil servants with permanent residence in backward areas, the service period will be less than 1 year. The minimum educational qualification prescribed for entry into the gazetted post of the third category of the service related to the advertised post should be attained.

Must have obtained an open master’s degree and must have acquired five years of experience in an officer-level position of an organized organization or an international association organization registered in accordance with the applicable laws or government service. Two years of experience in case of degree holders.
