Public holiday likely to be announced for September 8 (Bhadra 22)
September 8 Bhadra 22 marks the 13th day since the flood struck, and the government is reportedly planning to mark the occasion with both a national mourning declaration and a public holiday.
Announcement Made in Parliament
The preparations were disclosed during Tuesday’s meeting of the Business Advisory Committee under the House of Representatives. Kabindra Burlakoti, chief whip of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), informed the committee of the government’s plan to declare national mourning on Bhadra 22. RSP whip Prakash Chandra Pariyar also confirmed the development.
Parliament Session Schedule
According to a message Pariyar sent to journalists via WhatsApp, the parliamentary schedule is as follows:
- Bhadra 17 and 18 — Parliament sessions to be held
- Following 3 days — Public holiday
- Bhadra 22 — National mourning likely to be declared
- Bhadra 23 onward — Parliament to resume regular business
