What is a skill test?
- Skill test is the process by which the knowledge, skills and attitudes you have are checked (written and practical) according to the competency standard and certificates are awarded to the successful candidates.
- As in other countries, in Nepal, the system of providing partial or full certificate of proficiency has been started based on the criteria according to the recognition method of prior learning and the level of professional qualification.
- When testing with this method, the professional skills, knowledge and attitude of the people are tested and according to their level of efficiency, a certificate of partial efficiency or full efficiency is provided as a unit.
- A person with partial proficiency will be allowed to retake the proficiency test after acquiring the skill through training or any other means for the remaining proficiency for the full proficiency certificate of that level.

1️⃣ Personal Information
Fill your full name in Nepali and English exactly as written in your official documents (citizenship, passport, etc.).
2️⃣ Date of Birth & Gender
Provide your exact DOB in Nepali and English date format.
3️⃣ Citizenship Details
- Citizenship number
- Issue date
- Issued district
- Nationality
Attach a photocopy of your citizenship.
4️⃣ Permanent & Temporary Address
Fill your:
- Province
- District
- Municipality/Rural Municipality
- Ward Number
- Tole (Area)
- Phone number
5️⃣ Skill Category & Skill Level
Select your occupation and level (1, 2, or 3).
Each skill has a Skill Symbol Number, which must be written correctly.
6️⃣ Training Details
Mention:
- Training institute name
- Training year
- Duration
- Training completion status
(If you do not have formal training, mention “Experience-based”.)
7️⃣ Employment Status
NSTB also requires your current employment status:

- Wage employment

What documents are required to participate in the skill test?
- 1 photocopy of citizenship
- 2 recent passport size photographs of the same type.

Skill Test Fee Charge- How much does it cost to take a skill test?
NSTB’s regular program fee has been determined for the skill test work, but in your case, after collecting the information and analyzing it, a reasonable fee will be determined based on the level of qualification you have applied for. They will be informed about it when the application is invited.

Minimum Required Qualification, Skill & Experience for Skill Test Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 & Level 4
Based on the skills I have, how do I know what my qualification level is or for which level I have to take the skill test.
If you have a training certificate, based on that, you will know what level of qualification you fall into according to the efficiency standards, but if you have come from work experience or practicing or through other means, then the skills and knowledge you have will be partially evaluated based on the efficiency standards. Or will be prompted for the skill test according to the level of complete qualification. or If you have any certificate then based on your documents you are eligible for the following level.
Level 1
- Able to read simple text and have knowledge of related business skills and 1 year experience in related profession. or
- Having 6 months of work experience after taking training in related business. or
- At least 1 month (160 hours) training in related business.
Level 2
- Able to read simple text and having knowledge and skills of related business and having at least 3 years of work experience in related profession. or
- 1 year (at least 600 hours of direct and 800 hours of practical training) in the relevant subject. or
- Passed level 1 skill test in related subject and obtained one year work experience.
Level 3
- Able to read simple text and having knowledge of related business skills and having 5 years experience in related profession. or
- 1 year of training in related business and 2 years of work experience in related profession. or
- Passed level 2 skill test in related business and got one year experience.
Level 4
As mentioned in the national skill certificate of the related profession.
Where can I get skill development training?
Currently, various skill development programs are being conducted by local bodies in coordination with private and non-governmental organizations working in related fields. CTEVT’s formal schools and related private training providers conduct such programs with grants or necessary fees. Therefore, you can get information by contacting the provincial office of CTEVT or the local body or the association working related to it.
