Eid is one of the biggest festivals celebrated according to the Islamic calendar. The festival of Eid is celebrated at the end of the month of Ramadan, when fasting and praying for a whole month.

According to the notice published in the Nepal Gazette dated 2079/12/02, regarding the decision to give a public holiday on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr (Eid), the festival of Muslims, for the information of all concerned, it has been decided to give a public holiday on Thursday 29th Chaitra 2080 on the occasion of that festival.
Eid ul-Fitr also means the festival of breaking the fast.
