The demand for Nepali workers in Korea may increase. Under the Employment Permit System (EPS), the second phase of the language test has been conducted for agriculture and animal husbandry to be taken to South Korea. Since Korea has adopted a policy of not setting quotas in the country from this year, due to the diligence and honesty of Nepalese towards work, the demand for production is expected to be around 30,000 for Nepalese, according to the branch.

According to the branch, 26 thousand 876 people have applied for the exam to be conducted for 7 thousand 757 people in the second phase. There were 10 thousand 398 applications for 3 thousand one people in the first phase for agriculture and animal husbandry.

South Korea had requested the application of first and second selection stage language test for agriculture and animal husbandry in order to take the largest number of laborers from Nepal under EPS. According to the EPS branch, in 2023, out of 10,758 people who applied for agriculture and animal husbandry through EPS, 37,274 people applied.

He informed that most Nepali workers were selected for the first choice among the 16 countries that supplied labor to South Korea last time. According to him, earlier they were taking more workers from Cambodia, but this year South Korea is taking more Nepalese workers.

The branch said that it has prepared to send two thousand Nepali workers monthly through EPS. Due to the fact that the process of laborers going from Nepal is fast, Korea has also increased the quota to take laborers from Nepal.

In 2023, Korea plans to bring in more than 100,000 workers from 16 different countries, including Nepal, but in the first phase, 10,758 requests for agriculture and animal husbandry have been taken as a positive sign of the sincerity shown by Nepalese in going to Korea through EPS.

In 2022, more than 15,000 Nepalis have reached Korea for agriculture, animal husbandry and production through EPS. The EPS labor language exam, which has been held every year since 2008, was postponed for two years in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona virus. Although Korea has been demanding workers from 16 different countries in the productive, agricultural and animal husbandry, service, and construction sectors, Nepal has been demanding workers only in the agricultural and productive sectors.
