What is Niti Anusandhan Pratisthan or Policy Research Institute- Functions/ Works
The Policy Research Institute is a think tank which aims to help the government of Nepal to review and, where necessary, to reformulate public policies by carrying out policy research. Formed by the government of Nepal in 2018, it is administered by an autonomous board of directors and an executive chairperson. The PRI is largely funded by the government.

The objective of the Policy Research Institute (PRI) is to help the government of Nepal to review and, where necessary, to reformulate public policies by carrying out policy research that is both context conscious and evidence based.
Public policies often do not produce desired results for a variety of reasons. Policies may not grasp framework conditions and tendencies. There may be major contradictions between macro policies and policies for different sectors or there might be gaps in policies in different sectors. Even more likely, there may be major gaps between policy and practice. On the other side, it may be also be the case that positive, scalable and transferable policy outcomes may go unnoticed. All such public policy weakness and failure, of course, is highly costly both for the government and people of Nepal.
The PRI values the engagement of citizens and civil society groups in reviewing and reformulating policy as also in furthering a culture of evidence based public dialogue. As such, PRI policy research outputs will generally be accessible to interested readers, reporters and reviewers. The PRI will also keep several windows of dialogue and collaboration open for researchers and intellectuals.
The PRI has a wide mandate. Potential areas of PRI policy research include governance, economic growth, equity and inclusion, infrastructure, international relations, agriculture, education, tourism, and other sectors, etc.
