Finance Minister Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada presents the budget of Nepal for the financial year 2077/78.
The government has given priority to the education sector in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2077/07.

But academics say the allocations in this area are not balanced and productive. In the estimated budget statement submitted recently, Rs. 171.71 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which is more than four years.

Last year, Rs 165.76 billion was allocated for education. This time the amount has increased by Rs. 7.96 billion.
2.70 billion to provide scholarships to 2.6 million people including children of deprived and disabled citizens, children of martyrs and hardworking students.
1.82 billion financial transfer through local level grant to provide sanitary pads free of cost to 1.34 million female students studying in community schools.
