TU CDES Central of Department of Environmental Science Published admission notice for M.Sc. Environmental Health in Disaster.
In order to gain admission to MSc in Environmental Sciene program of CDES, a candidate must appear in and pass the entrance examination conducted by Institute of Sciencce and Technology, Tribhuvan University (IOST-TU) and the admission is strictly merit based. An applicant must have completed BSc in Environmental Sciene or equivalent degree recognized by Tribhuvan University with at least second division aggregate percentage. The application of the candidates having degrees other than BSc in Environmental Science can be accepted based on the decision of Faculty Board of IOST-TU.
Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES) was established on 26 October 2001 under the aegis of Institute of Science and Technology (IOST), Tribhuvan University (TU). With a mission to advance human knowledge on environment through teaching-learning and research, CDES-TU has been leading towards Academic Excellence. It has received Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) from the University Grants Commission of Nepal in 2018. The department offers academic degree programmes in Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Science. It also supervises the bachelors’ programme of Environmental Science in curriculum development and quality assurance.
CDES-TU was established with an objective of producing technically sound and competent professionals of environmental science who can deal with local as well as global environmental issues. The department regularly revises its curriculum and upgrades them in tandem with changing environmental problems to impart contemporary knowledge and technical skill to its students. CDES-TU puts especial emphasis on institutional collaboration to strengthen the academic programmes and research activities. It has actively been collaborating with the Government of Nepal at central as well as provincial and local levels. Similarly, it has been working in partnership with various international universities and research organizations.
CDES-TU has its mission to advance human knowledge on environment and awareness to protect it through teaching-learning, research and communication. In pursuance of this mission, CDES-TU aims to provide the highest level of teaching-learning and research on environmental issues, foster scientific inquiries and innovation to protect the environment of Nepal and the world, and inform policy debate, disseminate information, and increase awareness of sustainable environment.
CDES-TU envisions to becoming a Centre of Excellence upholding scientific values and social responsibility, an inspiring place of learning, developing skills, reflective global citizens and leaders, and accessible to everyone.
